About some months back, it was working fine this way, but now it is isnt. Kindly clarify if this scanning should be done ONLY from the admin dashboard?

Can you send me a screenshot of the email you got?
Is the email in your spam folder? It's possible the email provider filters images when it is considered a spam or not coming from https website.

It is not the email. This happens when we scan the qr code using a mobile phone. Now we have disabled it because of this.

Are you trying to scan directly with your phone?
The QR code is intended to be scanned by the site admin from the "Scan QR code" section of your calendar admin panel.

Please reply soon as we have events coming up now where we need to allow the organisers to use the QR code scanning to check in the attendees
The QR Code scan is done only via the admin panel.
By default the "Scan QR Code" button is enabled only for the "Shop Manager" role.
To allow more roles to be able to view and scan orders go to Calendar Settings -> WooCommerce tab -> Edit Orders option
